The U.are.U SDK for Windows is a bold step forward in fingerprint biometric application development. With a synchronous API, this SDK fully embraces image, template and compression standards. In addition, the DigitalPersona FingerJet biometric engine features a MINEX certified extractor. The U.are.U 4500 Fingerprint Reader is designed for use with Crossmatch’s™ full range of software including our authentication solutions, DigitalPersona Pro Enterprise and DigitalPersona Online, as well as our U.are.U Software Development Kits (except for the U.are.U SDK for Android®). From the developer: The DigitalPersona One Touch for Windows Software Development Kit (SDK) gives developers the power of DigitalPersona fingerprint authentication security within their Windows applications. The One Touch for Windows SDK supports the DigitalPersona U.are.U Fingerprint Readers, Modules and Keyboard.
The U.are.U SDK for Android enables integrators and developers to quickly add the strong security of fingerprint-based authentication to their Android applications. These applications can then be used with DigitalPersona’s standards based, FIPS 201 PIV certified optical fingerprint readers.The U.are.U SDK for Android uses the same API as found in the DigitalPersona U.are.U SDKs for Windows and Linux to provide efficient and easy cross-platform development. In addition, the DigitalPersona FingerJet biometric engine features a MINEX certified extractor providing developers with the flexibility to make unfettered choices of matching algorithms and the ability to comply with a growing customer requirement for standards support.

The U.are.U SDK for Android includes sample code, a detailed developer’s guide and a royalty-free license to distribute the DigitalPersona runtime engine with the developer’s application. The U.are.U SDK for Android is compatible with the DigitalPersona U.are.U 5160 Fingerprint Reader and U.are.U 5100 Fingerprint Module.The U.are.U SDK for Android does not support the U.are.U 4500 Fingerprint Reader or U.are.U 4500 Fingerprint Module.Standards support – In addition to legacy DigitalPersona image and minutiae formats, the U.are.U SDK for Android offers support for the following standards:
- ISO 19794-4:2005, Fingerprint Image standard.
- ANSI/INCITS 381-2004, Finger Image Based Data Interchange Format.
- ISO/IEC 19794-2:2005, Biometric data interchange format.
- ANSI INCITS 378-2004 Finger minutiae data format.
- MINEX (Minutiae Exchange) certified extractor – DigitalPersona submitted its FingerJet minutiae extraction SDK to the ongoing MINEX program. The FingerJet extractor was certified to create MINEX compliant templates.

How to use
To use, simply place a finger on the reader window and the reader quickly and automatically captures and encrypts the fingerprint image before sending it to the DigitalPersona® FingerJet™ biometric engine for verification. For superior user feedback, a red “flash” indicates that a fingerprint image has been captured.
